As
a charter member of Silver Brush Art Society, I have displayed in the
Matthews Help Center Benefit Art Show from its inception. In this 6th
annual event, I will again feature paintings in watercolor, acrylic and
oil.
I work in various mediums to capture memories, observations and emotions
on canvas.
Subject matter for my paintings continues to come from places and scenes around the globe that capture my eye and spirit on my travels. Camera always ready, I may zero in on a few tables at a seaside café in the Greek Isles: worn buoys decorating a weathered cedar storefront in Maine: around the corner view of an old stone farmhouse turned bed and breakfast in Tuscany: or crisp, little white smocked dresses hanging outside a shop in Budapest. As an artist, I attempt to capture that memory or emotion that attracted me to these images and hopefully inspire and move the viewer to share these feelings. Art has always been a part of my existence. Formal education led to a career in accounting, but even then, I have always enjoyed tasks where I could bring my creative talents to the job. The ability to visualize and create a sense of space and perspective has served me well in solving numerous problems. Art education has consisted of private instruction in drawing and painting, classes at Central Piedmont College, Charlotte, NC and Brookhaven College in Dallas, Texas as well as study with many renowned artists including local artist, Connie Winters. But to a large degree, I am a self-taught artist, drawing on a lifetime of study, practice and love of the arts. My paintings have found homes across the United States and internationally. A commissioned piece hangs in the Georgia Tech Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Building. 704 541-9280 704 574-8567 (cell) pcsart@earthlink.net |
