Johnny Carino's

Baked Cheese Tortelloni

This dish is the first item I have tried at Johnny Cariono's.  The last time I was here, I arrived a few days before they opened for business and was unable to get a meal.  It has taken me far too long to come back.  By and large I do not usually review food from "chain" restaurants as the food quality can vary greatly from location to location.  I will however make an exception in this case.

I found the house salad to be very pleasing.  The salad greens were crisp and it was served chilled.  Nothing extravagant, nothing unusual.  A good starter to a meal.  The Baked Cheese Tortelloni was tastefully done.  Rich tomato sauce over a good pasta toretelloni, stuffed with 6 different cheeses.  Romano, Parmesan, Asiago, Provolone, Mozzarella, and Ricotta cheeses are blended with a little herb and spice for a tasty treat.

The meal is served with fresh baked bread.  Ask for a knife with a serrated edge to cut it however as it is too hot to break by hand and too hard for a butter knife to properly cut.  The Torelloni is a good meal, but the true find was the Spicy Shrimp and Chicken that my son had.  I will review that another day when i can go back and get it for myself.
