The Alice Jules Coffeehouse

April 1st,  Gourmet coffee in downtown Monroe, NC?  This must be some sort April Fools joke some might imagine.  Well, it is not.  The Alice Jules coffeehouse does exist and makes fantastic coffee.

Last week I found myself with a bit of extra time in my usually busy schedule.  As I happened to be in the "downtown" area of Monroe I decided that I would visit one of the many antique shops that I have passed over the years.  I found one on Lancaster Avenue and decided to stop.  I walked in the door to discover that the building housed not only an antique shop but a coffee shop as well.  Alice Jules coffeehouse to be exact.  I asked the barista if she could make the equivalent of a Starbucks caramel macchiato.  She said that she would try but was unsure if she could make their coffee taste that bad.  I could not help but to laugh at her little joke. The coffee was very good indeed and to be honest it did surpass my usual beverage from Starbucks.

The bathrooms are the cleanest in Monroe.  Well, that is what the barista insisted.  I did use the facilities and must say that they were very clean indeed.  This fact seemed very important to the staff so I felt compelled to share it with you.

I recommend giving them a try should you find yourself in Monroe.  They are located at 204 Lancaster Avenue.
