This fine Washington State Chardonnay derives much of its character to the
volcanic soils that feed its vines. The cool September of 2004
allowed for extra hanging time of the grapes before harvest. The
added time allowed the grapes to fully mature in flavor and ripen slowly
for better balance. Gordon Brothers used new French oak barrel
fermentation and allowed for malolactic fermentation.
This wine is rich with vanilla and butter with undertones of fennel.
It is well balanced and has a slight and pleasant acidity. I would
highly recommend this with grilled white fish, and may even use it in many
of my recipes that require Chardonnay as the price is not too excessive
for use in cooking. A fine drink.
