2005 Courtney Benham

Chardonnay

Napa Valley

This Napa Chardonnay begins with a nose of Jasmine, Apples and Vanilla and Cirtrus fruits. Medium bodied with tastes of toasty oak, butter and vanilla.

The Carneros region is predominately a cool climate for viticulture. From San Franciscco's Golden Gate Bridge it is a mere 40 miles north to arrive in Carneros.

The Regions soil is shallow, dense and high in clay content. This restricts the root systems of the vines and regulates vine growth. The long moderate growing season allows for slow even growth and maturity of grapes for better than average fruit.

This fine wine is 100% Chardonnay,  with an alcohol content of 14.6%, a Courtney Benham and The Critictotal acidity of 0.52, and pH of  3.66.  Courtney Benham, pictured here with "The Critic" and a visit to Total Wine and More of Matthews,  produced 2,800 cases.

The creamy texture owes to a 12 month period of aging in French Oak barrels. A good table wine for most seafood and salads.
