Domaine Le Nonce

Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Translated from French this wine literally means, Field of the Nuncio (ambassador), New house of the Pope. Châteauneuf-du-Pape was a medieval village on the side of a hill, guarded by a chateau above. Today from the ruins there is still an impressive view in all directions, mostly of vineyards.

This wine comes from a small family owned vineyard in the southern Rhone regi
on of France. The Aubert family has owned and operated the vineyard for generations.

With a deep ruby color, this peppery wine has accents of black raspberry and chocolate. It is full bodied and chewy with soft tannins. The exact varietal makeup of this wine is not publicized but it is known that the following varietals contribute in part to the final product: Cinsaut (Cinsault)
Grenache, Mourvèdre, and
Syrah.

Suggested pairings include both veal and lamb chops.
This wine is a very good value for the more discriminating palate.
